Security personnel in Edo State have apprehended seven individuals suspected to be bandits during routine stop-and-search operations along the Benin–Agbor Road, according to security sources.

The arrests were disclosed in a report by security analyst Zagozola Makama, who stated that the group—identified as Fulani youths—was stopped shortly after they were said to have been offloaded from a truck at about 1800 hours on 2 December 2025.

“A search revealed pictures of assault rifles, including AK-47s, on their mobile phones,” the report said.

During questioning, the suspects claimed they had travelled from Adamawa State.

Authorities say investigations are continuing in a bid to trace any real firearms and establish whether the men are linked to criminal operations.

Security agencies have urged members of the public to report any suspicious movements to help prevent criminal acts in the area.
