Gunmen suspected to be bandits have carried out a fresh attack in Lakwaya town, Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, abducting seven persons.
Reports indicate that the attack occurred on Sunday night at Zurin Mahauta village in the Lakwaya axis, throwing residents of the area into fear.
The village head of Zurin Mahauta, Murtala Mai Unguwa, who confirmed the incident on Monday, said security operatives responded swiftly after receiving reports of the attack and have begun trailing the kidnappers in an effort to rescue the victims and apprehend those responsible.
Reacting to the development, Public Relations Officer, Army 3 Brigade, Captain Babatunde Zubairu said 5 persons were abducted, and troops are already on the trail of the attackers in order to rescue the victims.
The state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, visited some of the affected communities last week to assure the residents of government support.
