The Kano State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to strictly enforce the ban on commercial motorcyclists and the restriction on commercial tricycle operations between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am across designated areas of the state.
This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
According to the statement, the enforcement of the regulations—earlier announced by the Kano State Government—remains fully operational in nine Local Government Areas. They include Kano Municipal, Gwale, Dala, Fagge, Nassarawa, Tarauni, Kumbotso, as well as parts of Ungogo (Jido) and Dawakin Kudu (Tambuwal, Gurjiya and Jido wards).
The Command stated that the measures are aimed at enhancing public safety, curbing crime, and preventing the circulation of unverified information that could trigger fear and disorder among residents.
It warned that individuals or operators who violate the directives will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
“Any person found operating motorcycles or tricycles in contravention of the ban or restriction will be promptly arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” the statement read.
CP Bakori urged residents to comply with the rules and cooperate with security agencies in ensuring peace and stability in the state. He also encouraged community members to report violations or suspicious movements to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032419754, 08123821575, and 09029292926.
The enforcement operation, will be carried out in collaboration with other security outfits including the Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), will continue to ensure full compliance for the safety and protection of all citizens.
