Police in Kebbi State have taken into custody a 30-year-old man, Suleman Mamuda, over the alleged killing of his wife, Umaima Maidawa, in Bayawa community of Augie Local Government Area.
The Kebbi State Police Command said the suspect allegedly attacked his wife with the wooden handle of a hoe, an assault that reportedly resulted in her death.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, explained that Mamuda escaped from the area after the incident but was later apprehended through police investigation and information provided by residents.
“He later fled the area but was traced and arrested following police investigation and information received from members of the community.” he said.
SP Usman further disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mohammed Hadejia, has ordered that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and prosecution.
