Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has announced a cash reward of $500,000 for Nigeria’s Super Eagles if they secure victory in the semi-finals of the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Rabiu, one of Nigeria’s leading industrialists, made the pledge following the Super Eagles’ impressive victory over Algeria on Saturday, a result that booked the team’s place in the last four of the continental tournament.

Beyond the base incentive, the billionaire businessman also promised an additional $50,000 for every goal scored in the semi-final, further raising the stakes for the national team as they chase an eighth AFCON final appearance.

The BUA Group chairman disclosed the pledge in a statement posted on his verified Facebook page, where he praised the players for lifting national morale through their performances.

“Congratulations to our Super Eagles players on a brilliant victory against Algeria,” Rabiu wrote. “You have lifted the spirit of the nation, and we proudly cheer you on as you prepare for the semi-finals.

“To encourage you, I pledge USD 500,000 to the players upon winning the semi-final, with an additional USD 50,000 for every goal scored.”

Rabiu added that the incentives would significantly increase should Nigeria go on to clinch the tournament, pledging $1 million for winning the final, alongside $100,000 for each goal scored in the decisive match.

“Should you go on to win the final, I further pledge USD 1,000,000, plus USD 100,000 for each goal scored in the final,” he stated, urging the players to continue making the country proud.

The Super Eagles are expected to face host nation Morocco in what promises to be a highly charged semi-final clash, with both sides eyeing a place in the AFCON final. Nigeria, three-time champions of the competition, are seeking to reclaim continental glory after falling short in recent editions.
