The Oyo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into handwritten threat messages allegedly issued by suspected bandits in Ikoyi-Ile, Orire Local Government Area of the state.
The command disclosed on Saturday that residents discovered two separate notes on Friday, placed at the front and rear sections of a building within the community.
The messages warned residents of an imminent attack reportedly planned for Tuesday.
PlatinumPost reports that Ikoyi-Ile is one of the communities in Orire Local Government Area that has previously come under attack, during which suspected bandits killed five forest guards attached to the Old Oyo National Park.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said, “The individual who discovered the note is undergoing debriefing.”
He further stated, “The command has launched a full-scale investigation to determine the origin and intent of the note.”
Olayinka expressed appreciation to residents for their cooperation and encouraged them to remain vigilant as investigations continue.
