The All Progressives Congress Grassroots Governance Group (APC G3) has commended the Acting Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, Hon. Sunday Akiotu Ekpetika (Ekpeson), for what it described as his impressive developmental initiatives since assuming office.

The group, which recently celebrated the 87th birthday of former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, in Abuja, said Ekpeson has demonstrated uncommon leadership qualities within a few months of taking charge of the council.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Amechi Chuks Oyema, and made available to journalists in Abuja at the weekend, APC G3 urged residents of Etsako East to give the acting chairman the necessary support to enable him to sustain the delivery of democratic dividends at the grassroots.

The group expressed satisfaction with the cordial working relationship between Ekpeson and Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, as well as the Jaret Tenebe-led leadership of the APC in the state, noting that such synergy would translate into greater benefits for the people of Etsako East.

According to the statement, Ekpeson has within a short period embarked on several impactful projects, including the rehabilitation of schools, execution of water projects, restoration of electricity supply in various communities and improvement of workers’ welfare.

“He has also taken bold and practical steps to holistically address the issue of insecurity in the local government,” the group said.

APC G3 therefore called on the people of Etsako East to rally round Ekpeson and ensure his election as substantive chairman in the forthcoming local government polls.

The group also appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider Ekpeson for a future national assignment after his tenure, describing him as a leader with a clear understanding of the needs of the people.

Oyema further disclosed that APC G3 would soon unveil a list of the 10 best-performing local government chairmen across the six geo-political zones for recognition and awards at a ceremony scheduled to hold in Abuja mid-year.

Ekpeson, who currently serves as Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Edo State chapter, is seeking election as Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Area on the platform of the APC.
