The Rivers State House of Assembly has sustained its decision to impeach Governor Siminalaye Fubara and his deputy, Nma Odu.
At plenary on Friday, all 26 lawmakers unanimously agreed to advance the impeachment proceedings against the governor and his deputy.
Following the resolution, the Assembly decided to formally notify the Chief Judge of the state, in line with Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
The legislators are requesting the Chief Judge to set up a seven-member investigative panel to probe the allegations of gross misconduct brought against both officials.
