Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has presented cheques of ₦5 million each to the spouses and families of the 4 military personnel and a vigilante who recently paid the supreme price in the line of duty in Shanono Local Government Area of the state.

The presentation ceremony took place at the Headquarters 3 Brigade Nigerian Army, Bukavu Barracks, Kano.

The Governor, who was represented by Major General Sani Mohammed (Rtd), the Director General, Special Services of the Kano State Government House, presented the cheques to the family members of the Nigerian Army Personnel, 1 personnel of the Nigerian Airfirce and the spouse of a vigilante.

The presentation was in honour of 3 NA personnel, a NAF soldier and a vigilante who paid the supreme price in the battle that took place between November 2025 and January 2026.

In his remarks, Governor Yusuf stated that Kano State Government would never forget the sacrifices made by the fallen heroes, eulogising them as super heroes, and that their sacrifice in defending lives and property would never be forgotten.

He said the government would not compensate them enough for their sacrifices to the country, assuring that the State Government would continue to pursue the welfare of those in the battle front and the families of the deceased, while strengthening cooperation with security agencies to curb banditry and other criminal activities in the State.

In his welcome address, the Commander 3 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ahmed Tukur, described the support by the State government as a morale booster, appreciating the Kano State government’s timely intervention.

In a vote of thanks on behalf of other beneficiaries, Lance Corporal Yusuf Jibril, expressed profound gratitude to Governor Kabir Yusuf and all the stakeholders involved in the compensation arrangement; pledging that the support would be utilized judiciously for the welfare of the bereaved families.
