The father of Umar Auwalu, the principal suspect in the gruesome murder of a housewife and her six children in Kano State, has called on the government and the judiciary to ensure a speedy trial and the imposition of the death penalty if his son is found guilty.

Speaking to journalists in Kano, Mallam Auwalu expressed deep pain, shame, and condemnation over the alleged crime, which has shocked residents of the state and attracted widespread public outrage.

Describing the incident as a serious affront to humanity and societal values, he said no family relationship should obstruct justice, stressing that anyone capable of committing such an act should face the full weight of the law.

“People like my son Umar should not be allowed to live among others. They must be eliminated to allow society to remain sane. What he is alleged to have done is beyond imagination.”

Mallam Auwalu further urged authorities to avoid unnecessary delays in prosecuting the case, warning that prolonged proceedings could heighten public anger and erode confidence in the justice system.

He said a transparent and timely trial would help bring closure to the victims’ family and reassure the public that justice will prevail.

PlatinumPost reports that Umar Auwalu was arrested alongside two other suspects in connection with the suspected murder.

The trio are currently in custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the killing of the woman and her six children.

The killing has continued to provoke outrage across Kano State, with residents, religious leaders, and civil society groups calling for justice and tougher measures to curb violent crimes.

Security agencies have assured the public that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
