The Nigerian Navy has announced the death of its Chief of Operations, Rear Admiral Musa Katagum.
A highly regarded senior officer and former Chief of Naval Intelligence, Katagum was credited with playing a pivotal role in the Navy’s recent operational achievements.
Confirming the development, Director of Naval Information (DINFO), Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, described the late officer as a committed professional whose service record reflected dedication and strategic impact on national security.
“Throughout his distinguished service in the Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral Katagum demonstrated exemplary leadership, strategic insight and unwavering loyalty to the ideals and mission of the Nigerian Navy. His legacy will remain a source of inspiration to all personnel across the services.
“The Nigerian Navy extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and associates during this difficult time. Rear Admiral Katagum passed away following a protracted illness and has since been buried according to Islamic rites. May his soul rest in peace,” he added.
Rear Admiral Katagum’s career spanned several key appointments, including serving as Chief of Naval Intelligence, where he made invaluable contributions that strengthened naval operations and maritime security efforts.
