A prominent grassroots mobiliser, Engr. Ikechukwu Obi Njoku has joined Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Hope Uzodinma, and other prominent Nigerians in marking the Golden Jubilee anniversary of Imo State.
Engr. Njoku, a renowned businessman and the CEO of Winter Place Limited, expressed delight with the giant strides the state under the leadership of Gov. Uzodinma is making, noting that the governor has brought a renewed sense of pride to Imo indigenes across the country.
Speaking during the anniversary celebrations, Njoku commended the Uzodinma administration for what he described as a transformative development agenda focused on infrastructure renewal, economic growth, and social stability.
He highlighted the extensive road rehabilitation and reconstruction projects across major urban and rural corridors, stating that improved connectivity has boosted commerce and eased movement for residents.
According to him, the administration’s investments in urban renewal, particularly in Owerri and surrounding local government areas, have repositioned the state capital as an emerging commercial hub in the South-East. He also praised ongoing efforts to modernize public institutions, digitize government processes, and improve internally generated revenue without overburdening citizens.
Njoku further noted the governor’s interventions in education and healthcare, citing school rehabilitation programmes, teacher support initiatives, and upgrades to public health facilities as critical steps toward human capital development.
He added that youth empowerment schemes and skills acquisition programmes are helping to reduce unemployment while encouraging entrepreneurship among young people.
“As Imo marks 50 years of creation, we are not only celebrating history but also a future driven by purposeful leadership. Governor Uzodinma has shown commitment to rebuilding infrastructure, empowering our people, and positioning Imo as a competitive state in Nigeria’s economy,” Njoku said.
He urged Imo citizens at home and in the diaspora to continue supporting policies that promote unity, peace, and development, stressing that the Golden Jubilee should serve as a rallying point for collective progress.
The anniversary events featured cultural displays, civic parades, and recognition of distinguished sons and daughters of the state who have contributed to its growth over the decades.
