Veteran Nollywood actor Ganiyu Nafiu, popularly known as Alapini Osa, has defended the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the president is making efforts to improve the country despite the prevailing hardship.
In an interview with fellow actor Kunle Afod, Alapini said Tinubu already possessed wealth and fame before assuming office, stressing that his interest in governance is not driven by personal gain.
According to him, anyone who assesses the president’s leadership fairly would recognize his determination to lead the country effectively.
“Looking at how Tinubu is governing now, fair-minded people will see that he truly wants to lead the country well. What more money or fame does he need when he already has both? He is compassionate, but the environment he operates in, Aso Rock Presidential Villa, is filled with powerful and dangerous interests, like a forest with lions, tigers and cobras. It takes a brave hunter to enter such a place and succeed,” he said.
The actor also alleged that some individuals within Aso Rock are undermining the president’s efforts. He claimed these individuals fear that Tinubu might expose certain secrets if solutions to the country’s challenges emerge under his leadership.
“There are many people in Aso Rock who do not want solutions to Nigeria’s problems to come from Tinubu because they fear the secrets he knows may be exposed,” he said.
Alapini added that governing a country like Nigeria requires wisdom and strategy, noting that without these qualities, the president would not achieve much before leaving office.
He concluded by saying that leadership ultimately rests in God’s hands and expressed belief that Tinubu was destined to accomplish a purpose for the nation. He also noted that Tinubu’s style of governance differs from that of some previous leaders, whom he accused of focusing mainly on their own regions.
