Validatory Session: INC Honours Outgoing Executives as Okaba Hands Over to Igbadiwei
The Ijaw National Congress witnessed a historic moment during its Validatory Session and Presentation of Awards/Official Handover ceremony, as the outgoing executive council led by Benjamin Okaba formally handed over leadership to the newly elected President, Macdonald Igbadiwei.

The event marked the official transition of leadership within the apex Ijaw socio-cultural body and celebrated the contributions of outgoing executive members who served during Prof. Okaba’s administration. Awards and commendations were presented to members of the outgoing team in recognition of their dedication, sacrifices, and commitment towards the unity, growth, and advancement of the Ijaw nation.

The ceremony drew respected stakeholders, leaders, and delegates from across Ijaw communities, creating an atmosphere filled with honour, solidarity, and appreciation for service rendered to the organisation and the people.
In his remarks, Prof. Okaba expressed gratitude for the support received during his tenure and urged the new leadership to remain committed to protecting the collective interest and aspirations of the Ijaw people. The newly inaugurated President, High Chief Macdonald Igbadiwei, reaffirmed his resolve to build on the achievements of previous administrations while fostering greater unity and development within the Ijaw nation.

The colourful gathering also served as a symbol of continuity, peaceful leadership transition, and renewed hope for a stronger and more united Ijaw nation under the new leadership of the Congress.
