YENAGOA — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State has unveiled what it describes as its "Generation Next Leaders," presenting a comprehensive lineup of party leaders and prospective candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The political blueprint, which reflects the party's strategy for consolidating its influence across the state, features prominent national and state leaders alongside candidates projected to contest senatorial, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly seats.
Leading the list of party leaders is former Rivers State Governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, identified as the PDP National Leader. Also featured is Abdulrahman Muhammed, the party's National Chairman, while Bayelsa PDP Chairman, George Turnah, and party stalwart Great Joshua Maciver were listed among the key figures expected to steer the party's affairs ahead of the next electoral cycle.
For the Senate, the party's projected candidates include Hon. Akinaka Erepamo Richard for Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, Hon. Polycarp Onduakpo Ebebi for Bayelsa West Senatorial District, and Hon. (Barr.) Ateki Boabofa Joseph for Bayelsa East Senatorial District.
The House of Representatives category features Marlon Linton Ebi-Ebide for Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, Elvis Boudillon Doukemezio for Yenagoa/Kolokuma-Opokuma Federal Constituency, Christopher Ebrin Peters for Nembe/Brass Federal Constituency, Highlife Humphrey Peremobowei for Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency, and Orujanye Kopiumologi Daniel for Ogbia Federal Constituency.
At the State House of Assembly level, the list covers all constituencies across the state's eight local government areas, including candidates for Brass, Ekeremor, Kolokuma/Opokuma, Nembe, Ogbia, Sagbama, Southern Ijaw, and Yenagoa constituencies.
Party stakeholders say the extensive lineup underscores the PDP's commitment to nurturing a new generation of leaders while strengthening grassroots participation and representation across Bayelsa State.
Political observers note that the emergence of the proposed candidates signals the commencement of early strategic positioning by party loyalists as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 general elections.
The unveiling has generated discussions within political circles, with supporters expressing optimism that the proposed team possesses the experience, grassroots appeal, and organizational capacity required to advance the party's fortunes in future electoral contests.
The PDP's message accompanying the presentation emphasized unity, inclusiveness, and electoral victory, with the party rallying supporters under the slogan: "Power to the People – PDP Wins, I Win, You Win, We Win."
