The Federal Government of Nigeria and former Rivers State Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi have thrown their support behind Dr. Victory Njoku’s crusade for women’s health, leadership, and economic empowerment across Africa.
Their endorsement anchored the maiden Her Health, Her Power Conference Africa, organized by the VickyHeldan Empowerment Foundation under the theme “Leading with Wellness for a Sustainable Africa.”
Representing the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, the Director-General of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women’s Development, Dr. Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, highlighted the high economic stakes. She noted that building a $1 trillion Nigerian economy relies entirely on foundational investments in women's healthcare.
Echoing this connection, Amaechi insisted that public health cannot be separated from national growth. Recalling his tenure in Rivers State, he pointed to his administration’s model of establishing village health centers, stationing dedicated medical staff, and offering N10,000 stipends to encourage antenatal care.
Convener Dr. Victory Njoku assured delegates that the movement will extend far beyond the conference hall. Through targeted community outreach, the foundation will actively address maternal care, reproductive rights, mental wellness, and female leadership across the continent.
The event was anchored by four expert panel sessions. Aviation strategist Ruth Chukwueke moderated the discussion on maternal healthcare alongside Dr. Saad Abdumumin, Eunice Benu, and Dr. Ololade Diya.
A second session on leadership and innovation was steered by legal strategist Dr. Uzoamaka Orakwue, featuring insights from Jennifer Odufuwa, Dr. Chuka Imo, Divine Maduike Igbokwe, and Segun Ebozoje.
Discussions on reproductive health were led by Jennifer Odufuwa, featuring cancer advocate Ummi Musa Umar, Dr. Ololade Diya, and youth advocate Raheem Auwal-Panti.
Filmmaker Ujuaku Akukwue brought the event to a close, moderating a health and wellness panel with digital producer Samuel Gada, Professor Princess Akawor Dollor, and Segun Ebozoje.
