Seyi Makinde, presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), has asked Nigerians to collect money offered to them by politicians but vote according to their conscience.
Makinde spoke on Saturday at the APM presidential campaign flag-off in Bauchi, urging Nigerians to support the party’s proposed reset agenda.
The Oyo governor said hunger, insecurity, and a lack of inclusiveness were among the country’s major challenges.
“Don’t bother at all when they bring money; it’s your money. Collect it, spend it, but vote your heart. And I know your heart is with us and with APM,” he said.
The presidential candidate said Nigerians who are dissatisfied with the country’s current state should support the APM, adding that his proposed agenda is designed to address the nation’s challenges.
Also speaking, Lawal Daura, the party’s vice-presidential candidate, criticised what he described as politics of deceit and hypocrisy, saying these practices threaten Nigerian democracy.
Daura said the APM’s reset agenda would promote honesty, accountability, and an inclusive government that would accommodate Nigerians regardless of religion, ethnicity, or background.
Bala Mohammed, Bauchi governor and APM national leader, said he and Makinde left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over injustice.
Mohammed said Makinde’s proposed reset agenda and government of national unity would address tribalism, religious intolerance, and exclusion in governance.
Yusuf Dantalle, APM national chairman, said women would participate more in politics if Makinde is elected president.
