Nigeria is among six countries selected to participate in the prestigious International Para Shooting Competition for Military Veterans taking place in Ulan-Ude, Russia.
The Nigerian contingent is being led by Hon. Jim Okolo and Coach Christian, who are representing the country at the international sporting event.
Okolo's leadership of the delegation is coming against the backdrop of his recent appointments as Chief Coordinator of the All FCT Sports Association (AFSA) and Vice President of the Para Volley Federation of Nigeria.
The competition, which brings together military veterans from different parts of the world, provides an international platform for athletes to showcase their sporting abilities, promote inclusiveness and strengthen sporting relations among participating nations.
Nigeria's selection among the six countries invited to the competition is a significant recognition of the country's growing participation and commitment to the development of para sports, particularly among military veterans.
Other countries participating in the competition alongside Nigeria are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Iran and Kenya.
The participation of the Nigerian contingent is expected to further strengthen the country's presence in international para-sport competitions while providing an opportunity for Nigerian athletes to demonstrate their skills, determination and competitive spirit on the globaltt stage.
Okolo's involvement also underscores his commitment to promoting sports development, supporting athletes with disabilities and creating opportunities for Nigerian sportsmen and women to compete internationally.
