The Peoples Democratic Party's Chimaobi Ebisike won the bye election in Aba North and South Federal Constituency yesterday. Professor Fidelis Okpata of the Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo, Ebonyi State, who served as the Returning Officer for the constituency, declared that Chimaobi Ebisike of the Peoples Democratic Party received 10,322 votes to beat Mascot Uzor Kalu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 3,674 votes.

Mascot's crippling defeat brings the dream of his elder brother, Senate Chief Whip Orji Uzor Kalu, to an end, who had expected victory ahead of the election.

Destiny Nwagwu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance and Okey Prestige of the Action Alliance polled 1,554 and 199 votes, respectively, to finish third and fourth, while the candidates of the APM and NRM received 10 and 13 votes.

Although tracking the elections in the two Local Government Areas, some voters talked to our correspondents and expressed satisfaction with INEC's handling of the polls.
