The presidential campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has canceled the planned presidential campaign rally in Kano State.

The Secretary of the APC presidential campaign council, James Faleke in a tweet on the APC PCC Twitter handle, Thursday, said the rally that was scheduled for February 16 has been cancelled.

Faleke did not provide any reason for the cancellation of the rally.

The APC held a presidential rally on 4 January in Kano at the Sani Abacha Stadium but according to the timetable of the party, Kano is supposed to host the party twice.

When contacted, a source in the presidential campaign team simply replied, “I am not aware but it’s possible”.

Another source said that the presidential candidate himself asked the rally be cancelled after he touched down from Sokoto yesterday.

“Asiwaju gave the orders for the cancellation of the Kano rally after we got back from Sokoto yesterday. We don’t really know why”, the source said via a text message.

It is unclear if the cancellation of the rally is unconnected to the outcry over the new naira scarcity.
