Simon Ekpa, a well-known pro-Biafra agitator and separatist, warned that if regional governors refuse to secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, the Southeast may be closed down for two weeks.
The threat, according to Ekpa, follows President Muhammadu Buhari’s defiance of court orders urging Kanu’s release.
The information was revealed on Tuesday by the Finnish attorney Ekpa in a tweet.
He claimed that it is still unknown where Kanu is, which is really concerning.
“Biafran territory may go on two weeks lockdown if the Nigerian Government’s eastern region governors refuse to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu or give an update on his whereabouts.
“This has become imperative as nobody knows the whereabouts of MNK after he was discharged. After two weeks of lockdown and nothing, we will activate the next strategy that has never been observed”, he wrote.
Interpol re-arrested Kanu in June 2021 and handed him over to Nigeria; ever since, he has been held captive despite demands for his release.
Kanu’s attorney, Aloy Ejimakor, said a week ago that the separatist’s health was getting worse.
