A Nigerian man, Eke Ako, has said that a woman spending her own money without the knowledge and approval of her husband is financial infidelity which, according to him, is the same as sexual infidelity.

Mr. Ako, from Abia State, who stated this in a Facebook post on Monday, October 30, 2023, had earlier said that he supports polygamy. Read his post below:

FINANCIAL INFIDELITY VS SEXUAL INFIDELITY.

Financial infidelity carries the same weight as sexual infidelity. Your funds also belong to your husband. When you spend outside your family (your husband, children & you) without his knowledge and agreement, it is the same as sexual infidelity

My dear sisters who copy western marriages ignore this part

Igbo marriage remains the best. Working out differences in a marriage is not endurance

Marriage requires toughness, tolerance and endurance

You must decide to lose sometimes. You must also know your place.

Also avoid the temptation of changing a natural order because you want to copy what you don’t really understand.

Spending your money without your husband

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has said that the National Assembly was planning legislation that would regulate Artificial Intelligence (AI).

He said this at the 7th Convocation Ceremony organised by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies in collaboration with the University of Benin, held in Abuja.

He stressed the need for Nigeria to have a regulatory framework in place for emerging technologies.

He also noted that although new technologies such as AI and robotics have immense benefits, there is a need to check their misuse and abuse.

He said: “Datasets and algorithms can reflect or reinforce gender, racial, or ideological biases. More critically, AI can deepen inequalities by automating routine tasks and displacing jobs.

“There is also likely to be a rise in identity theft and fraud, as evidenced by the use of AI to create highly realistic deep fakes.

“These are intended to misinform, trick and confuse people. Attackers use these maliciously crafted videos, photos and audio to create societal unrest, carry out fraud and damage the reputations of individuals and brands.

“Accordingly, and in recognition of the opportunities and threats posed by AI, the 10th House of Representatives will engage stakeholders and experts on this and related issues.

“We shall leverage their potential and address issues of privacy, accountability, ethics, security and intellectual property. We will also work with the executive to ensure the integration of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, robotics, and renewable energy into the school curriculum.

“Therefore, in the coming weeks, I will introduce a bill to regulate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and ensure better conditions for the development and use of this innovative technology in Nigeria.

“This will be the first such effort in Africa and one of only a few undertaken by parliaments worldwide.”

A father has been charged with defiling his 12-year-old daughter in Lagos State.

A police Prosecution Witness Inspector, Glory Eyo, on Monday October 30, narrated to the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos how Abdullah Abiodun allegedly defiled his own 12-year-old daughter.

Eyo who was led in evidence by the state prosecuting counsel, Olushola Sholeye, told the court that the minor was defiled by her father in the Badagry area of the State.

The witness also told Justice Abiola Soladoye that it was the defendant’s son, Usman, a younger brother to the victim, who caught his father in the act and raised the alarm.

She said, “Abiodun was at home with his daughter, her younger brother, and a visitor who came to visit.”

“After the visitor left, Usman was chased out by his father, and the defendant told him to leave the house. When he left, Abiodun removed his daughter’s pants, held her neck, and tried to insert his penis in her private parts. It was in the process of doing it that the daughter screamed. Her brother heard the noise and entered the house where he saw his father on top of his sister.

“The defendant tried to chase Usman away and then the victim ran out and reported to their neighbour that her father was trying to have sexual intercourse with her.

“The neighbour then reported the case to the Baale, before it was reported to the Lagos State Police Badagry Division,” she said.

Consequently, Justice Abiola Soladoye adjourned the case till December 16, 2023, for continuation of trial.

The defendant was arraigned on June 3, 2021, on a count of unlawful defilement of a child preferred against him by the state.

He was alleged to have committed the offence at their residence in the Badagry area of the state.

According to the prosecutor, the offence committed contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
