Nyesom Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers State, has apologised to the people for pushing his successor, Siminalayi Fubara, on them.

Recall that during the 2023 general election, Wike chose Fubara as his candidate for governor of Rivers State.

Wike, who is currently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has since had a falling out with Fubara.

President Bola Tinubu intervened to broker peace between Wike and Fubara.

However, in a message to his supporters in Rivers over the weekend, Wike conceded that pushing Fubara on the people was a mistake.

“I’m not to say I’m perfect or that every decision I’ve taken is right. I’m a human,” he said.

“I may have made decisions that may not be palatable to everybody but in my position I was influenced to accept it.

“And you accepted it and it turned out to be bad, pls forgive me. Forgive me,” the minister said.
