Excitement brews in the Nigerian football community as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) prepares to unveil Finidi George as the new Head Coach of the Senior Men National Team, Super Eagles.

The official announcement is scheduled to take place on Monday in Abuja, signaling a new era for Nigerian football under George’s leadership.

Ademola Olajire, the NFF’s Director of Communications, confirmed the news in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja. The unveiling ceremony will be attended by distinguished guests, including Minister of Sports Development Sen. John Owan Enoh, Permanent Secretary Mrs. Tinuke Watti, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, and General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, among others.

George’s appointment comes after a successful stint coaching Enyimba FC, where he led the team to victory in the Nigeria elite division title in his second season. With the club currently in contention to retain the title this season, George leaves behind a legacy of excellence and achievement.

Having spent 20 months as an assistant to Portuguese coach José Peseiro, George brings a wealth of experience to his new role as Super Eagles Head Coach. As a former player with 62 caps for Nigeria at the senior level, George has represented his country with distinction, winning the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and competing in two FIFA World Cup finals.

Now, George faces the immediate challenge of guiding the Super Eagles through the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Benin Republic. With qualification for the AFCON secured and a strong performance in the tournament, George aims to build on the team’s success and lead them to further glory on the international stage.

As the Nigerian football community eagerly awaits the official unveiling of Finidi George as Head Coach of the Super Eagles, hopes are high for a bright future under his leadership. With his passion, experience, and determination, George is poised to inspire the team to new heights and bring pride to the nation’s footballing heritage.
