The Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (CIISM) has held quadruple event of capacity building, induction of new members, inauguration of new council, as well as conferment of Doctorate Degree awards.
The event on Friday August 15 at the Army Resource Centre, Asokoro, Abuja honoured deserving individuals for their enormous impact and contributions to human capital development.
With the theme “Strategic Synergies: Leveraging Arts Management & Information Strategy for Nigeria’s Development,” the event brought together stakeholders from the academia, corporate world, security, media and diplomatic corps.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman Board of Trustees of CIISM Prof. Paul Bolorunduro emphasized the need for intentional and concerted efforts towards human capacity building, entrenchment of the rule of Law and a comprehensive policy that will address indiscipline amongst the citizens.
"There is a need for a comprehensive policy to address issues of indiscipline amongst the citizens. However, the government alone cannot do everything, all stakeholders must come together to help in educating citizens on the need to maintain decorum, orderliness and adherence to rules and regulations which will foster mutual respect and orderliness for sustainable development and national transformation."
The newly elected president of the Council of CIISM, Amb. Dr. Mrs Temile Uduogho Oritseweyinmi in her address said she is overwhelmed by the load of support and encouragement she enjoys already as the president of the governing council of institution.
"This appointment is not just a personal milestone, it is a call to greater service. With the contributions of the past efforts and most importantly the renewed commitment towards capacity building for human capital development. I wish to express my sincere appreciation to my predecessor, Dr. Peter Nmrakpo for his efforts and time he devoted towards making this institution a great one", she said.
She promised to work hard together with the newly elected members to further accelerate the development of the institute and take it to greater height.
Also the Chief host of the event, Registrar of CIISM Dr. Adelanke Peter Oyintoke, DFCISM ACA MNIM congratulated the new council members as well as the recipients of the Doctorate honours.
Some of the newly elected governing council members include, DIG. Frank Mba, (DIG in charge of training and development, Nigeria police), Amb. Dr. Obiniyi Bamidele Abayomi Johnson, Amb. Dr. Alex Nwankwo (CEO Amity global network), Dr. Tola Sunday Yusuf, Dr. Saheed Ekeolere, Dr. Emeka Henry Inegwu, Dr. Muhammed Bello, Dr. Mrs Lulu Prisca Nonyelum and others.
Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of the certificate of the honorary Doctorate degree to worthy recipients including, Dr. Alhaji Shehu Mohammed (Sarkin Shanu Kano), Oba Dr. Alaba Omotunde, HE. Amb.Dr. Abayomi Mumuni, Dr. Mary- Kingsley Ndidiamaka Eze (SJS), Dr. Adebayo Abiodun Adewale, Dr. (Mrs) Chovwe Emaniru, Dr. Eustace N. Onuegbu, and more.
