A woman has been confirmed dead after her body was discovered inside her residence at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) estate in Maitama, Abuja.

According to a report by security analyst Zagozola Makama, sources disclosed that the deceased, identified as Hajiya Fanna Abare, had not responded to calls or contact for approximately two days before the discovery. Her sister reportedly found her in a decomposed condition on December 17 at about 1700 hours.

“The door to the room had been locked, and it was forced open before the body was found,” a source said.

Following the discovery, police detectives were immediately deployed to the scene. Owing to the advanced state of decomposition and concerns over public health, officials of the Abuja Environmental Health Department were contacted. The body was later evacuated and buried at Gudu Cemetery.

Police sources said “No foul play is suspected in the incident”.

Authorities added that investigations are still ongoing to officially establish the cause of death.
