The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has given approval for Sa’ad Aminu Sa’ad and Nabil Aliyu Daneji, sons of late Kano lawmakers, to vie for the vacant Kano State House of Assembly seats for Municipal and Ungogo constituencies following the deaths of their fathers.
The decision came after a series of consultations led by the party’s National Leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, with the backing of critical stakeholders within the party.
The two NNPP lawmakers who represented the affected constituencies reportedly died on December 24, 2025, creating vacancies in the state legislature.
Explaining the process, NNPP State Chairman, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, said the approval was the outcome of extensive deliberations involving party leaders and members of the bereaved families.
According to him, the meeting was hosted by Kwankwaso at his residence in Kano, where senior party officials met with family representatives to discuss how the vacant seats should be filled.
“There was understanding and respect on all sides. We sat down, spoke frankly, and agreed on the process,” Dungurawa said.
Kwankwaso, in his remarks, stated that the decision was meant to preserve the legacies of the deceased legislators, noting that the party remains guided by the principles of justice, compassion, and internal democracy.
He emphasised that the approval does not guarantee automatic nomination, stressing that Sa’ad and Daneji must still participate fully in the party’s established selection procedures, including screening, alongside other aspirants.
Dungurawa expressed confidence that both aspirants would uphold the standards of service associated with their late fathers.
“We believe they will continue the legacy of service and dedication their fathers were known for,” he said.
He also called on party members to support the process, assuring that the exercise to fill the vacant seats would be carried out peacefully, transparently, and in line with party regulations and electoral guidelines.
