The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has secured the conviction of a motorist, Obi Uduka, who was sentenced to one week in prison for dangerous driving and other traffic-related offences in Abuja.
Uduka was arrested on September 10, 2026, at about noon during a Mobile Court operation conducted at the Dutse Alhaji Unit Command of the FRSC, FCT Sector Command.
A statement signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, on Saturday, said Uduka was driving a Pontiac Vibe when he was apprehended and subsequently arraigned before the Mobile Court on charges bordering on dangerous driving, driving licence violation, vehicle licence violation and resisting arrest.
“He was arraigned before the Mobile Court on charges bordering on Dangerous Driving (DGD), Driving Licence Violation (DLV), Vehicle Licence Violation (VLV) and Resisting Arrest. Following his trial, His Worship Theresa, presiding Magistrate, found him guilty and sentenced him accordingly,” the statement said.
The FRSC said the conviction underscored its determination to deal firmly with motorists whose actions threaten the safety of other road users.
The Corps stated that dangerous driving and other acts capable of compromising road safety would continue to attract appropriate sanctions, stressing that motorists who deliberately endanger lives on Nigerian roads would be made to face the consequences of their actions in accordance with the law.
It also urged motorists to comply with traffic regulations, exercise caution and conduct themselves responsibly while using the nation’s roads.
According to the Corps, road safety is a collective responsibility, adding that it would continue to combine public education, persuasion and lawful enforcement to promote discipline among road users and reduce road crashes.
