A non-governmental organisation, Njideka King Foundation is set to empower 50 children in Abuja with practical barbering skills as part of its 2026 Clip for Change initiative, designed to help young people acquire useful skills and build a more self-reliant future.
The foundation will hold the empowerment and community outreach programme on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at JSS Gosa, Gosa Primary, Lugbe, Abuja, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The Foundation in a release said the 50 children have already successfully completed their skills training and are now set to be equipped to put their newly acquired barbering skills into practice.
The programme will also feature a free community back-to-school barbering exercise, offering free haircuts to children, alongside music, fun and other activities intended to create a welcoming community atmosphere.
The initiative is anchored on the foundation's message: “A child skilled today. A future without limits tomorrow.” It reflects an emphasis on moving children beyond vulnerability by giving them practical skills and opportunities.
The 2026 initiative builds on the foundation's earlier intervention in Abuja. In August 2025, the organisation trained 50 less-privileged children from Tudunwada in barbering as part of a summer empowerment programme.
It is designed to assist children from 10 and 16, where they underwent an intensive skills training and receive barbering equipment to enable them to begin applying the skills.
The foundation says teaching the children practical skills is intended to help them develop entrepreneurial capacity while still in school, rather than relying solely on conventional academic education.
