The Commander General of the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS), Dr Joshua Osatimehin, has congratulated Nigerians, particularly officers and men of the Service, on the arrival of the year 2026.

In his New Year message, Dr Joshua Osatimehin described the past year as one of the most challenging for the country and its citizens.

He expressed optimism that with God on the side of Nigeria and Nigerians, 2026 would be better than previous years and that the country would overcome its security and economic challenges.

The Commander General stressed the need for all Nigerians, especially the political class, to remain committed in 2026 to the realization of the dreams of the nation’s founding fathers towards repositioning the country for greatness.

He also used the occasion to restate his commitment and support for President Bola Tinubu-led administration in actualizing its renewed hope agenda for Nigerians, particularly in the area of security.

According to him, the NFSS will, in 2026, embark on more capacity training for its officers and men across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to boost their productivity in securing the nation’s forested regions.

Dr Joshua Osatimehin commended the Military, the Police, DSS, Office of the NSA, NSCDC, NDLEA, Customs, Immigration and other critical stakeholders for their support and collaboration in the previous year, while calling for sustained assistance to enable the NFSS effectively discharge its mandate.

He further appealed to state and local governments to provide more logistical support to aid the fight against banditry, kidnapping, boko haram, terrorism and other forms of insecurity confronting the country.

While wishing Nigerians, especially officers and men of the NFSS, a Happy and Prosperous New Year, Dr Joshua Osatimehin prayed God to bless everyone in their endeavours and grant them the grace to witness many more years in good health and fulfilled desires.
